Robot For Intelligent Perception And Precision Application (RIPPA) is a farm robot that exterminates pests and weeds. Designed to be powered entirely by sunlight where it has a hood covered by solar panels; under which its inner workings and equipment are found.
Created by the University of Sydney; robotics specialists from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR). The team are currently conducting on-farm trials of RIPPA across Australia.
Mechanical pest control is extremely effective and sustainable as it can potentially eliminate the use of pesticides.
