Crayfish Are Great For Aquaponics

Updated: Oct 30, 2024

They are inexpensive and can certainly add a new degree of interestingness to your aquaponics systems. The best thing about them is their ability to break down uneaten feed and fish waste which further helps the system in the nitrification process.

It is important to note that crayfish are aggressive omnivores. These opportunistic little guys will not think twice whenever they have a chance to snag something to eat. Therefore, it will be at your best interest to have them kept in a separate holding tank than your fish in an aquaponics system.

If you’re already farming shrimps and crayfish in your pond or backyard then you should consider integrating aquaponics as it will greatly help improve the water quality. Giving your crayfish a healthy environment to live and thrive.
