Transform Stinky Swarms Into Aquaponics

A farmer in China has successfully transformed smelly swamps into productive aquaponics systems.

First, he used Myriophyllum Verticillatum L also known as whorled water-milfoil to absorb the excess amount of chemical oxygen demand (COD) in the dirty water.

Then he released bottom feeders like cod, yabbies and freshwater snails to take care of the excess amount of organic compound on the bottom.

As a result, he was able to transform the swamps into organic nutrient-rich ponds. These ponds can efficiently grow vegetables on floating trays as well as raising edible fishes.
